HELLO GOLD WITH HONOURS SYF 2009 TEAM!WE FINALLY PULLED THROUGH! it's been 5 days since results have been out, and im still feeling so amazed, so happy, so proud of every single one of us. im sure all of you guys feel the same too :) it still feels like a being in a dream, the fact that we've managed to achieve what we wanted after 2 months of blood sweat and tears. we had only one chance , only 6 minutes and 44secs to prove what NJID is worth, and we did it. well done guys!
we started off as merely nothing, and ended off as a dance group that our fellow schoolmates admire and future batches of students will look up to. frankly, even a month ago, i was unsure if we would have been able to achieve the gold with honours that we all badly wanted to. it seemed so far away, so hard to reach. but i guess this gold with honours has only been possible to achieve with every dancer putting in their all into the dance. the syf journey was definitely not an easy one, the late night practices, the scoldings, the frustration, the setbacks and of course, the injuries. it took amazing determination from every single one of us to survive these 2 months. kudos to all of u for that! but of course, we will also never forget the fun times that we've had throughout the process, laughing over how silly we looked doing some of our steps as well as warm ups (esp squat jumps when ppl kept moving into the circle) and of course, on syf day itself, when our faces totally transformed under all those layers of make-up.
1st April was a day not to be forgotten. the morning passed in quite a flurry, with all the rush of putting on makeup, doing our hair and getting dressed in our cotumes and jewellery. i must say, everyone one of you was looking absolutely gorgeous! Our 6minutes and 44secs on stage seemed to have passed by in a twinkle of an eye, before I knew it, we were doing our ending. However, i'll never forget the moment whenwe ran out of stage, crying in happiness that we've managed to put off a flawless performance on stage. Neither will i forget the ten minutes of continuous screaming, crying and jumping after ms selva announced the results. Overall, our syf journey was one that was absolutely unforgettable.
And not to forget, our gold with honours would not have been possible without the help of three special people, karthik, haikel and khairi. Even as seniors who've already graduated from nj, they came down to help whenever they could, and this clearly shows the amazing passion that they have for ID. we're very blessed to have seniors like them to guide us and motivate us throughout our journey, or else only God knows how far we'd have gotten without their help! (:
Also, i think we need to thank 2 other people, who have continouslybeen coming down to watch us, correct us and motivate and cheer for us : Shanti and Daniel. Though they were not part of the dance, they came down to help as if they were in the dance themselves. You two are the best! and yay ID, we finally managed to make them tear out of happiness while watching us perform backstage (: haha.
Finally, i think our three teachers, Arthi and Lakshmi, as well as the rest of the exco, have done a great job helping to manage and prepare for our big day. It was awesome working with u guys! (:
okay this has been a long post, and i'll end off by thanking every one of you for making dance so memorable! it's not possible go through our syf journey all over again, but the memories of it will remain with us forever. i'm proud to say that i'm from NJ Indian Dance, SYF Team 2009, Gold with Honours.
LOVE,
Jumanah
